Introduction To DSE
Digital Spectrum Enterprises of West Michigan is a non-profit multimedia organization located in Muskegon, broadcasting community awareness television programs on Comcast Channel 96, www.dsetv.com, and YOUTUBE CH-dsetvmuskegon.
Since obtaining its 501C3 status in 2003, the mission of DS Enterprises is to educate citizens about programs and services available to them in their community through several forms of media, most specifically: television programs and audio/video promotional materials. Areas of coverage are education; health; business; religion; recreation; and local, state, and federal government. DS Enterprises’ primary focus is on senior citizens, individuals with disabilities, students, and minority groups.
In addition to providing informative, yet entertaining television programs which deal with events and issues concerning these citizens, our goal is also to afford those who are interested the opportunity to obtain media/broadcasting experience. This enables them to express their opinions and creativity as script writers, audio/video engineers, editors, set and graphic designers, television hosts, and videographers.
Since June of 2005, DSE has been the managing entity for the City of Muskegon’s Government Access television station, Comcast channel 96. DSE provides the Muskegon-area with a mixture of both local government/community television programming
24-hours-a-day, seven days a week.
DSE currently produces 20 weekly/monthly programs including: “Alive & Well“, which focuses on all aspects of health and fitness; “Veterans: Did You Know?“, hosted by Dave Eling, Director of Muskegon County Veterans Affairs; “Living Green”, a program which provides information about sustainability, nature, agriculture, and nutrition; “Faith & Heritage”, a multicultural look at religion, faith, celebrating tradition, history, and ancestry; “Young at Heart”, an “in-studio”/”on-location” show both hosted by and dedicated to senior programs, services, and concerns; “What’s Happening! West Michigan?”, which features community events and attractions; and “A & E West Michigan”, spotlighting West Michigan artists and entertainers. In addition to televising Muskegon City Commission meetings, DSE also broadcasts a variety of state and federal governmental programming; high school sports, band and choir concerts, theatrical productions, as well as local parades and festivals. Each year, the organization gives free air time to promoting the programs and services of approximately 300 non-profit organizations.
In November of 2010, DSE launched its brand new web site. Now DSE-TV programs will air on both Comcast and the internet, at dsetv.com & YOUTUBE Channel dsetvmuskegon), not only reaching viewers who don’t have Comcast, but also those who live outside the Muskegon area, both statewide and national.
DS Enterprises is operated by a Board of Directors whose members all share the same vision: the creation of a multimedia organization whose purpose is to focus on and in a positive way add to what the Muskegon area has to offer. As a non-profit organization, DSE’s monthly expenses include: the purchase and repair of computer and audio/video equipment, both office and media/broadcast supplies, the weekly commissions and fees of editors and videographers, not to mention, the rent and utilities of its production studios.
DSE is not funded by the City of Muskegon; it relies solely on business underwriters/sponsors, fund raising activities and personal donations. In order to continue to serve the Muskegon area with “Informative TV that keeps you entertained”, DSE needs the financial support of its community.
Thank you for your time. Any financial support that you can offer will be very much appreciated.
Sincerely,
Ann Bratsburg-President
